QBA Youth Band Camp 2024
Brisbane Brass Members Excel at Queensland Band Association Youth Band Camp
Brisbane, January, 2024 — This week, a vibrant group of Brisbane Brass members took part in the Queensland Band Association (QBA) Youth Band Camp, marking an enriching experience for all involved. The talented squad included Brandon, Tahu, Jude, Matthew, Tahlia, Polly, Jackson, Logan, Max, and Lizzie, who immersed themselves in a week of music-making and learning.
Under the expert guidance of world-renowned brass band conductor and trombonist David Bremner, along with other outstanding tutors, the participants had the opportunity to enhance their skills and collaborate with peers. The camp culminated in a performance at Mt-Cootha Botanic Gardens that showcased the hard work and dedication of all the musicians.
Several members of Brisbane Brass were recognised for their exceptional contributions:
Brandon Ivers, Max Ward, and Polly Scott: Awarded Best Section in the Solo Cornet category by their Musical Director.
Tahu White: Acknowledged by MD Dave Bremner for an outstanding contribution during his first QBA camp.
Liam Reed: Celebrated as the winner of the QLD Conducting Academy and served as a guest conductor for the camp.
The camp provided a valuable platform for these young musicians to develop their talents and gain experience under the guidance of leading figures in the brass band world.
