Band in a Day 2025

Brisbane Brass to Host Band in a Day Workshop for Aspiring Musicians

The Gap, QLD – February 2025 – The Brisbane Brass Music Association (BBMA) is set to host its highly anticipated Band in a Day workshop on Sunday, 23rd February 2025, at The Gap State High School. This exciting one-day event will give school-aged brass students of all skill levels the opportunity to hone their craft, play in a large ensemble, and perform live in a concert later in the day.

Designed as an immersive and educational experience, Band in a Day invites participants to come together for a day filled with music, learning, and community. Students will benefit from the expertise of experienced brass tutors, who will guide them through technique-building exercises, group rehearsals, and music theory sessions. Throughout the day, participants will work collaboratively to prepare for a public concert at 3pm, showcasing the music they’ve mastered over the course of the workshop.

One BBMAI member shared their enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Band in a Day is an opportunity to kick-start the year on a high note—pun intended! Our goal is to inspire students, spark their musical passion, and give them the tools to grow as musicians. We’ve designed this event to be accessible, fun, and educational, and we’re excited to see musicians of all levels come together to create something special.”

A Day of Music and Mentorship

Participants will arrive at 8:30am for registration and warm-up, with the first rehearsal kicking off shortly thereafter. Throughout the day, students will be guided by professional brass tutors, who bring years of performance and teaching experience to the table. These expert instructors will work closely with the participants, providing valuable feedback and mentoring to help them improve their skills, whether they’re learning the basics of brass technique or polishing their performance for the concert.

The workshop culminates in a concert at 3pm, where participants will perform pieces they’ve worked on during the day in front of a live audience. It’s a chance for brass players to show off their hard work and celebrate the collaborative spirit of the workshop.

Accessible for All

The event is open to students of all ages and abilities, from beginners looking to get their feet wet in the world of brass music to experienced players wanting to refine their skills. At just $40 per participant, Band in a Day offers an affordable way for students to engage with their music and make connections with other like-minded musicians.

“We wanted to create an event that is both fun and educational, and we’re confident Band in a Day will do just that,” said a BBMAI representitive. “We’re proud to host this event in a way that supports students early in the year, setting them up for success both in their individual music journeys and within the broader Brisbane music community.”
